Little is known about a silent but prominent producer Jaz on The Beat currently signed to Black Market Records doing his crafts under Studio Black Market 256 based in Wakalaiga-Natete.

Jaz on The Beat real name Ruben Jason is a music producer born into a staunch Christian family of a senior politician who was then a member of parliament Jean Pierre and Antoinette Langalanga in the township of Goma-Democratic Republic of Congo.

As a Child, the multi skilled producer whose both parents were musicians as it’s a common norm in the DRC watched his parents and siblings sing and play various music instruments in church, local events and at home and it’s from this experience that his Love for Music was cemented from childhood.

He started his professional musical journey in 2014 at a teenager of 17 when he lived and played a keyboard in a local church found in Goma town and it’s from here that he learned how to make beats with music software known as Logic 5.

He mastered the craft as he became better with time and started making beats for the community who came from everywhere to listen to his beats in that township he lived which made him popular.

“I realized that I am musically talented because no one was there to show or teach me how to do things but I found myself doing things right”, he confirms adding that all was not rosy since he didn’t have any support and was struggling in totality.

“But God was with me”, lanky producer concedes noting that he had to live the church after a couple of years to go and look for a job in 2017 since he wasn’t being paid to play keyboard at the church where he had offered voluntary services for over 3 years.

Jaz on the Beat, famously known as a beatmaker and singer moved to Uganda in 2018 well equipped with his talent in music production and immediately after landing in Uganda’s dusty capital of Kampala was connected to studios by colleagues who lived here where he worked with musicians especially hip hop stars like Navio, Babaluku among others.

The producer whose work specialty consists of genres like hip hop, RnB, Dancehall and Salsa, draws inspiration from the International Dj famously known as Dj Snake and he advises youth to have a target in life and believe in themselves that they can make it in life with time.
