Vanessa Mdee was inspired to open up about her struggle with clinical blindness after watching a blind man perform at the reality show East Africa Got Talent.
East Africa’s Got Talent is a talent show competition that is part of the Got Talent franchise owned by Simon Cowell.
It is produced by South African film production company Rapid Blue, and will be broadcast simultaneously across four countries in East Africa; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda. [sic]
Vee Money is among four judges selected to adjudicate East Africa Got Talent, other panelists include Jeff Koinange, Gaetano Kagwa, and Makeda.
Mdee was impressed by a blind contestant Mark Angachi who dropped a thrilling performance, the Tanzanian singer was touched that she too confessed that she suffers from clinical blindness.
A person who suffers from clinical blindness has impaired vision and as such, they have to wear corrective eyewear such as eyeglasses or contact lenses to see properly.
Speaking of the blind person’s performance, Vanessa Mdee said;
“It’s unusual for someone so young to sing so soulfully, you can tell that you’ve been through stuff I’m clinically blind in one eye as well but that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my biggest dreams.
