Controversial gospel singer Justina Syokau has been leading a celibate lifestyle since 2013 when her marriage hit rock bottom.

The Twendi Twendi hitmaker was married in 2012 but her marriage fell apart in 2013.

She has been embracing celibacy ever since her marriage crumbled.

In an interview with Amina Abdi on The Trend, Justina claimed that she had to persevere in an abusive marriage with an unfaithful partner who eventually threw her and their child out.

The singer further disclosed that numerous attempts by their families to reconcile did not bear fruit.

Justina said she tried to persevere in marriage because her parents encouraged her, hoping that her husband and her would outgrow their problems.

“I was married to a serial cheater, when starting out I never thought he would have turned out like that. When I was pregnant he used to kick us out but I was persistent since our parents encouraged us to stick together,” Justina Syokau said.

“I could find him with women but I used to think he would change many people prayed for us but nothing happened. Eventually, he threw us out and I went to live under the Muthurwa footbridge,” she added.

Speaking during an interview with comedian Consumator, the mother of one further revealed that she had managed to be celibate for nearly a decade because she is able to control her sexual feelings.

“Being single is enjoyable because you’re free, and it’s almost nine years since I walked out of my marriage. Nilitoka na mtoto kijana nikaamua nyege kwanza niweke nje. Juu hii feeling imeniingiza kwa matatizo and I have whom I need to take care of his responsibilities,” Syokau said.

“Heri kuwa na dry spell kuliko kujiingiza kwa majaribu. Uende uzae na kimtu ujikute wewe ndio unalea peke yako. Nimekuwa dry spell kwa sababu naogopa kuingia kwa shida yengine,” she added.
