Benson Muia, popularly known as Bensoul, shared his decision to drop out of university and pursue a full-time career in music.

The musician, who left his engineering studies in his third year, believes the choice was essential for his artistic growth.

In a candid interview with the SPM Buzz channel, Bensoul explained that despite being an excellent student, his heart was not in his studies.

“I was a very smart student. The reason I left school was because I was not happy even though I passed my exams,” he revealed.

“I felt that I was wasting many hours that I should have spent on music. I decided to leave everything and focus on music, sound engineering, and mixing my own songs.”

Leaving university wasn’t without its hardships. The artist recounted facing significant challenges, including struggling to pay rent.

However, meeting the members of Heart The Band provided him with much-needed support and camaraderie.

“It was not an easy process when I left school,” Bensoul admitted, “although I enjoy being surrounded by good friends from Heart The Band.”

Bensoul noted that the entire Heart The Band squad also chose not to pursue traditional education paths, reinforcing the collective commitment to their musical ambitions.

Since making the leap, Bensoul has become a beloved figure in the Kenyan music scene. His numerous hits have garnered over a million views on YouTube, solidifying his place as one of the country’s favorite artists.

His story serves as an inspiration for many aspiring musicians who grapple with the decision to follow their passions over conventional routes.

Through his journey, Bensoul highlights the importance of pursuing one’s passion and the potential rewards that come with taking risks. His success story is a testament to the idea that true fulfillment often lies in following one’s dreams, despite the challenges that may arise.
