The failed Gengetone Festival in Machakos brought Willis Raburu shame, and now it’s also bringing him a lawsuit.
Raburu was heavily trolled after the much-hyped Gengetone Festival flopped terribly, with only a handful of people attending.
The Citizen TV presenter was also a subject of mockery after he unveiled his new look ahead of the festival.
The 33-year-old’s hairstyle and newly found sense of fashion made many conclude that he is suffering from an early form of midlife crisis.
Willis Raburu suffering from early form of midlife crisis?
The promoter of the Gengetone Festival has now threatened to sue Willis Raburu and artistes who were contracted to performs at the failed event.
The promoter Joe Mutetei claimed all the Gengetone artistes contracted for the show at Machakos People’s Park never met their end of the bargain.
According to promoter, artistes were contracted for the event through Sentinel Richplus Ltd. Each was expected to help in social media marketing of Gengetone Festival and commit to perform within the time allocated for the event.
The promoter further stated that artistes were to receive a down payment with the balance due expected to be paid at the completion of the event.
However, on eve of Gengetone Festival Willis Raburu and other artistes ganged up and demanded the balance before getting up on stage.
The promoter revealed that Raburu was the highest paid being the event’s emcee, he received a down payment of Ksh 65,000 with a similar amount to be paid after the concert.
Speaking during an interview with Nairobi News, the promoter revealed that he is having his lawyers draft demand letters to artistes who received deposits and never performed as per the agreements.
