The family of beloved comedian Fred Omondi has broken their silence, sharing their grief and memories following his untimely death.
Eunice Atieno Omondi, mother to both Fred and fellow comedian Eric Omondi, expressed her deep sorrow over the loss that has left an irreplaceable void in her heart.
“I was informed about Fred’s death on Sunday around 11 am,” she said.
Atieno remembered Fred as a humorous and mischievous child whose antics eventually became the foundation of his successful career.
“Fred was always full of humor and fun, and we never interfered with that. It paid off in his life. He loved his family very much and personally, he loved me very much,” she added, her voice filled with emotion.
The shock of his passing has profoundly affected the family.
“His death has broken my heart. Fred even made it possible for me to meet Oburu Odinga, which was important to me. He told me that we were going to celebrate together and when we got there, he introduced me as his mother,” Atieno recounted, highlighting Fred’s loving nature and the special moments they shared.
As the family prepares for Fred’s funeral, Atieno has called on the community for support to give him a peaceful send-off.
“We are continuing with the funeral procedures and by June 29 we will put Fred to rest. If you suffer a loss you cannot manage it alone, at the moment we have not come that far in the preparations and we are still asking for any help,” she said.
Fred’s cousin, Kenneth Matiba, also spoke of the comedian’s warm personality and the profound loss felt by all who knew him.
“Fred was a good man. He knew people and was close to everyone. We mourn deeply because we have lost a loved one,” Matiba said.
The family has invited various leaders and the community to join them in mourning Fred Omondi.
The comedian tragically lost his life in a road accident on Kagundo Road on Saturday morning June 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love that will be remembered by many.
