Francis Atwoli has addressed the issue of Deputy President William Samoei Ruto becoming the next President of the Republic of Kenya once again only this time going into the details of why he believes he will be President.

When it comes to predicting what will happen in the Kenyan political scene, the COTU boss is always known for predicting the future with precision.

Speaking during his interview at KBC on the ‘State of Kenya’s Labour Movement and BBI’ topic on the Prime Edition show with John J. Kioria yesterday night. The COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli opened up about a lot of things that a lot of Kenyans would want to have a listen to.

Among the many things that he touched on, he opened up about the ongoing criticism that he’s been getting from different politicians for not always getting along with the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto.

Atwoli says that he has a whole lot in common with DP Ruto that a lot of people don’t know when it comes to politics disclosing that what brings them together is the fact that they both fight tooth and nail for what they strongly believe in.

“You must fight for what you believe in and in terms of the building bridges initiative, I wanted the project to go on due to the fact that it’s what I believe in and at the same time, the deputy president of Kenya didn’t want it because he also believes in something different”, COTU Secretary General Atwoli said.

Admittedly he said that Deputy President has what it takes and might even have a chance of becoming the President of Kenya but at least, not at the moment.

He says the reason he doesn’t see Deputy President becoming the immediate next President of Kenya is that there are a lot of things that are at stake which he thinks Deputy President William Ruto won’t be able to handle at the moment. He strongly believes that his time will surely come in the future that will see the DP sitting on the top seat in the Republic.

“The deputy president of Kenya, Honorable William Ruto will be elected or rather might be elected as the president of Kenya but not now, maybe in the future because at the moment, we have a lot of things at stake which I honestly don’t think he will be able to handle if elected now”, he added.

On his retirement

Francis Atwoli also talked about his retirement saying that he has plans of retiring to become a Sunday School teacher when his term comes to an end. He went further to say that this would be his very last term, he will not extend his term once this term ends.

Atwoli who says he has no intention of vying or becoming President of Kenya disclosed that he would have retired back in 2011 were it not for his workers who urged him to continue being the COTU Secretary-General. He said that his colleagues refused him to retire in 2016 and this year as well.
