Eric Omondi couldn’t be happier after Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi alias Tems announced the cancellation of her Kenyan concert.
In a statement released via her social media pages, Tems detailed that she will not be performing at Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond her control.
“Hey, Kenya 🇰🇪. Honestly, it’s quite heartbreaking to say this but I will not be able to perform at the Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond my control,” Tems said in part.
The singer went on to explain that she is disappointed that she will not be meeting her Kenyan fans as early planned.
“I am as disappointed as you all are but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve. Love you all 💖,” Tems regretted.
The star announced her Kenyan tour back in August 2022.
“Nairobi Kenya, I’ll be coming very soon,” Tems announced in a short post.
Eric Omondi took to social media to thank Tems on cancelling her show in Kenya. He also asked her to tell fellow Naija musicians not to come to perform in the country.
“Thank you my Sister for being Considerate to our Situation right now…God Bless you🙏🙏🙏 Please ask your brothers and Sisters to stay away from Kenya for a while as we heal and recover and not step on us while we are down. Ask Ruger to please cancel his show as a show of goodwill and brotherhood. God bless!!!” He wrote.
Eric further criticized Kenyan event organizers whom he blamed for the sorry state of Kenyan music.
“Kenyan Promoters are the ROOT cause to all our problems and downfalls as an Industry!!! This is an official WARNING to all Kenyan Promoters and Event Organisers!!! We are just from elections and that means we are significantly a new Nation with NEW beginnings. We must ReBirth,Rebrand and REJUVENATE!!! I WILL PERSONALLY ensure that all your EVENTS FAIL unless you put Kenyan Artists first!!! Pay Kenyan ARTISTS First!!! RESPECT KENYAN ARTISTS First!!! Dont TREAT Kenyan Artists like SECOND CLASS Musicians!!! You are currently being UNCOUTH and DISRESPECTFUL!!! Paying foreign Artists Millions in Flights, Accommodation, Hospitality and Remunerations while paying Kenyan Artists peanuts!!! For the next one Year I am ordering you to Focus on Rebuilding Kenyan Music and if you think this is a Joke then TRY ME!!!! IDIOTS!!!” Eric ranted.
