Attacks aimed at MCSK by artistes have been very rampant in the past years and this time its sensational group Elani’s time. The group which comprised of Wambui Ngugi, Maureen Kunga and Bryan Chweya took to social media a few minutes ago to express their disappointment in the music body.

The trio are claiming that they were only paid Ksh.31,000 for the year 2014 alone and that year happened to be the best year in their career where they released five major hits that rocked our airwaves; both Television and radio and also the internet space.

After they decided to follow up on the radio stations if they usually pay royalties to MCSK after being told that radio stations usually don’t pay their royalties, they were shocked to find out that the radio stations actually pay their royalties and it is in their pushing on this matter that they were given another check of Ksh. 300,000 as a compensation.

Elani made an official statement saying;

“For far too long the country have been quiet. Not speaking about the ills that cripple the music industry. Music is a job like any other. All artists need to be paid their dues. We should not have to cry, protest, beg for monies owed to us.”

Many people are standing behind Elani and more specifically artistes and people involved in the music industry.

One key thing that MCSK and other music governing bodies should know is that like any other industry, Music is an industry on its own and is a career like any other and so artistes needs to get paid so that they may pay their bills and live a comfortable life like a normal citizen ought to.

I love everybody who loves everybody, somebody got to love somebody at some point.
Music is something that comes natural to everybody and it's a language that everybody can understand, I understand it and that's why I speak it
fluently, do you.
