ProKid’s little brother DJ Citi Lyts shot dead in Soweto, he was shot 8 times

The hip hop community in South Africa and Africa, in general, is mourning the sudden death of one of the best prospects of hip hop today, DJ Citi Lyts.

DJ Citi Lyts whose real name is Sandile Nkululeko Mkhize was shot eight times by unknown men in Soweto in a hijacking on February 13th.

He later succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, 14th February 2022 at 12:30 am.

The passing od DJ Citi Lyts was confirmed by the family spokesperson Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini.

“I can confirm that Sandile passed away at 12:30 am in the morning,” family spokesperson Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini told Drum.

Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini said the family is still processing the passing of their son Sandile.

The news of the sudden death of DJ Citi Lyts has hit the hip hop fraternity like a ton of bricks, nobody saw it coming.

DJ Citi Lyts was the little brother to the late legendary rapper ProKid who also answered to Pro. ProKid passed away on 8, August 2018.

DJ City Lyts was an artiste and a respected deejay who was once signed under Ambitious Entertainment where he released notable hit records like ‘Vura’ together with Sjava, Saudi, and also the ‘Washa’ hit record bringing Emtee, Fifi Cooper, and B3nchMarQ on the same record.

DJ City Lyts had parted ways with Ambitiouz Entertainment and was working on his solo career before he was gunned down. DJ Citi Lyts was 33 years old by the time of his passing.

Since his death was confirmed by his family, social media has been sending condolences to his fans, family and friends under the #RipDJCityLyts hashtag that has been trending since February 14th in the morning.
