Diamond encourages Wasafi artistes to open their own record labels

Diamond Platnumz wants musicians signed under his label Wasafi Records to open their own labels and sign other artistes.

Speaking during an interview on Wasafi FM, Diamond said he encourages Wasafi signees to open their own labels in a bid to promote Tanzanian music and support upcoming talent.

“Anyone under the Wasafi record label is allowed to start their projects if they want to,” said Diamond.

The Bongo singer stressed that he wanted to see Wasafi signees emulate his success through their own respective projects.

Artistes signed to a major label opening their own labels is a common thing especially in US, for stance Drake who is currently signed to Universal Music own his label OVO Sound record label.

Diamond further revealed that Rayvanny was about to launch his own record label, saying that it will be the biggest in Tanzania.

“I was looking at his studios and told him, ‘Rayvanny, this studio is big.’ The day he will post it, as we speak it will be the number one best studio in the country,” said Diamond.

Another Wasafi signee Lava Lava already has his own record label dubbed ‘BiteGang’ which was launched in 2019.

Lava Lava’s BiteGang has already signed its own DJs and producers, the singer is set to sign new artists after his studio is fully stabilized.
