Diamond Platnumz has opened up about his mother’s expensive treatment in India. About eight years go, the singer’s mother Sanura Sandra suffered paralysis after being struck by a stroke.
Speaking during an interview on Wasafi FM, Diamond said he only discovered the importance of health insurance coverage after his mother suffered a stroke.
“Hakuna mtu ashawai jua hii story. Sikumbuki kama 2012 ama ni 2013 mamangu alipata stroke aka paralyze. Nlichanganyikiwa, ndo mara ya kwanza kuona mamangu hatembei, hazungumzi,” said Diamond.

The ‘Jeje’ hitmaker disclosed that his mother’s treatment in India nearly left him flat broke because he was paying with cash.
Diamond said his mother was admitted at the VIP section of a hospital in India, and that he was also footing bills for four other people who had accompanied his mother to India.
The Bongo singer further revealed that his mother stayed at the hospital for one month, and that during that time he exhausted his savings to cater for her treatment and stay in India.
“Alafu gharama ambazo ziliingia pale, kutumika haikua mchezo. Alikaa India karibu mwezi, of cause ni mamake Naseebu lazima akae VIP. Gharama ambazo ziliingia kipindi ile kwa kutokua na bima ya afya isingekua ni muziki basi sijui ingekuaje,” said Diamond.
Diamond also disclosed that at one point Clouds Media CEO had to pay for his air ticket (he was regularly flying to India and back to Tanzania) when he got stuck.
