Diamond Platnumz recently performed in South Sudan at a concert that was attended by tens of thousands of revelers who didn’t observe any Covid-19 regulations.
The Bongo singer brought South Sudan to a standstill with his electrifying performance at the ‘Together for Peace’ Concert in Juba.
South Sudanese president Salva Kiir was among those who attended the concert which was reportedly attended by over 100,000 fans.

Revelers didn’t observe any Covid-19 regulations recommended by World Health Organization (WHO).
The vast majority of concert goers ignored recommended directives to social distance or to wear masks, although president Kiir wore a face covering.

Health experts in South Sudan have since criticized Diamond and concert organizers for clear violation of the health ministry’s Covid-19 protocols.
Dr. Angelo Guop Kouch, director of South Sudan’s Public Health Emergency Operation Center, which manages COVID-19 cases in the country, said the gathering was not advisable.
“Health authorities should be involved when there are such activities in the country because of the crowd,” Dr. Kouch told VOA.
WHO epidemiologist in South Sudan, Dr. Joseph Wamala, said new strains of Coronavirus which has emerged could spread more easily in South Sudan.
“The identification of this new strain is really a reason for countries to reinforce measures to limit spread through the recommended measures; using the mask, observing respiratory etiquette,” Dr. Wamala said.
Covid-19 has had a relatively light impact on South Sudan, with just 3,511 confirmed cases and only 63 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
