Diamond Platnumz has admitted that apart from him, his music nemesis Alikiba, Harmonize and Rayvanny are the three other Bongo musicians who are doing very good musically.
However, Diamond lamented that the one thing that prevents Tanzanian artistes from becoming popular even in foreign countries was the fact that they have a habit of competing instead of being united.
He explained that artists should aim to move forward and not stay in the same place arguing.
“Huku Tanzania tuna tabia ya kuonyeshana nani mkali kuliko mwenzake, hadi wa leo. Mpaka leo hamjafahamu kuwa nyote ni wakali tu? Hivi leo, nani asiyejua kuwa Alikiba ni msanii mkali, nani asiyejua Rayvanny ni msanii mkali, nani asiyejua Harmonize ni msanii mkali? Hivyo tushavipitisha vyote,” Diamond said.
Diamond said that he does not like to get involved in something that people are talking about because he can be opinionated and react negatively, which he knows will waste his time.
He compared artists from Tanzania and foreign countries like the United States and said that musicians from his country are fighting while those from foreign countries are moving and improving musically.
“Wasanii huongozwa na watu, marafiki,jamaa, lazima watuongoze kwenye njia ya kusonga mbele wala si chuki za wenyewe kwa wenyewe, kwa sababu zinaturudisha nyuma,” Diamond said.
He also explained that fans sometimes contribute a lot to Tanzanian music not being popular as it should be.
“Huku Watanzania ukitoa nyimbo za kimataifa wanataka utoe nyimbo za lala salama, usipotoa wimbo wa kimataifa ni wa kwanza kukutusi, mashabiki pia huchangia. Nikitoa nyimbo, mimi huzima data ya simu, ukitaka kunitusi wewe tusi, sitambui.”
