Mwarabu Fighter was Diamond Platnumz’s official bodyguard for five years, he was was quietly laid off in February 2018 for demanding better working conditions.
Mwarabu was dismissed by Wasafi’s top management after he asked for a reduction in working time and an increase in his pay. He was told that he would be called back to work when Wasafi considered his demands, he was never recalled.
In a recent interview with Bongo 5, Mwarabu Fighter revealed that he was so broke while working for Diamond. He claimed that his pay couldn’t sustain his family for even two weeks.
“Mimi niliishi ili kulinda Brand ya Diamond haliyakuwa mfukoni sina kitu, niliishi ili niendane na brand ya msanii mkubwa lakini katika nafsi yangu niliumia sana. Wakati huo sikuwa na gari wala pikipiki wala chombo chochote cha usafiri lakini nilikuwa napanda magari ya kulipi. Mshahara wangu haukutosha hata kwa wiki mbili lakini sikuwa na namna,” said Mwarabu Fighter.
Mwarabu Fighter further revealed that he really suffered after Wasafi fired him. He disclosed that his wife was forced to sell fish to put food on the table.
“Nilipoacha kazi nilihangaika sana maana sikuwa na hata senti mia, mke wangu aliuza genge mtaani ili tupate chochote. Vijana wengi wajifunze kupitia kwangu,” said Mwarabu.
