Veteran rapper Colonel Mustapha set tongues wagging after he was seen working at a construction site as mtu wa mkono (handyman).

The rapper has been off the grid for over a year only making headlines after a video of him working at a building construction site went viral.

The video shows Colonel Mustapha mixing concrete and carrying building blocks to where they were being used to construct the building’s wall.

However, some people speculated the video of Mustapha working at a construction site is just meant to create a buzz before the rapper releases a new song.

Colonel Mustapha was one of the highest-paid rappers in Kenya during his heydays.

The debut in the early 2000 together with Nasty Thomas as part of hip hop group Deux Vultures.

The duo started their career at jam sessions of the Florida 2000 nightclub in Nairobi. Originally the group was known as “Desert Vultures” and had as many as 20 members, but soon the group decreased to two members and was renamed Deux Vultures.

Their debut single ‘Mona Lisa’ became a big national hit in Kenya. Deux Vultures was also known for their mega hit song ‘Kinyaunyau’.

Deux Vultures split and Mustapha and Nasty Thomas pursued their own solo careers. This was the beginning of Mustapha’s downfall as he never got back his A game as a solo rapper.
