Burna Boy sparked a heated debate on social media recently after he gave the main reason why he turned down a lucrative deal to perform on a stage in Dubai.
In a video that went viral on social media, the Grammy-winning star performed a freestyle during her recent band practice.
While freestyling, the Nigerian singer revealed he had been promised $5 million to perform at the show in Dubai but he refused it after being told that there was a clause that intended to prevent him from using any alcohol or smoking marijuana while performing on stage.
Smoking weed is illegal in Dubai yet Burna Boy is an avid marijuana smoker. Blocking him from indulging in his favorite leisure activity seemed like a lengthy prison sentence, a heft punishment that he opted to avoid altogether.
The Afrobeats superstar claimed that the $5 million was not important to him because he avoids places and situations where he cannot have the freedom to pull his “grass”.
