Outspoken, flamboyant Bishop David Muriithi has officially admitted that he is indeed the father of a 2-year-old son that he sired with his former girlfriend, Judy Mutave.

The city Bishop of House of Grace Church said that he will take responsibility for his son but he won’t manage to pay the amount his former girlfriend had earlier demanded.

The Bishop says that he will only pay the mother of his 2-year-old son the upkeep of KShs. 10,000 per month telling the Court that he is poor and only depends on well-wishers to survive. It’s alleged that Bishop David Muriithi is living in one of Nairobi’s leafy suburbs and owning several luxurious fuel guzzlers that only the rich can afford.

Bishop Muriithi’s former girlfriend had sued him for a whooping KShs. 100,000 per month for child support. The aforementioned amount was a monthly allowance for child maintenance.

Judy Mutave wanted the Bishop to be compelled by the Court to pay Ksh1,000 for the salon, Ksh5,000 for entertainment, Ksh3,000 for utilities and Ksh2,000 for toys, Ksh20,000 for food and shopping, Ksh35,000 for rent, Ksh11,000 for clothing and Ksh10,000 for house help.

“I offer to take full responsibility of paying fees for the minor and as well as payment of 10,000 per month for the minor’s upkeep bearing in mind my limited means and family responsibility,” he said in an affidavit.

The woman told the court that she’s been taking care of their son single-handedly for the past 2 years ever since she gave birth to him. She said that the popular Bishop dumped her and severed ties with her blocking all the means of communications that might have helped them talk, even for the sake of the baby.

The Bishop of House of Grace Church confirmed officially in his affidavit that he indeed had a short-lived relationship with the woman who took him to Court. He said that the relationship ended back in 2018.

Muriithi accused the applicant of not having the minor’s best intentions at heart but a scheme to extort money from him and/or also embarrass him. He told the court that he was willing to pay school fees for the child but noted that he would not afford to enroll the minor at Kiota School.

“It is now crystal clear to my mind that the applicant having had the misconception that I live a high-end life may somehow have caused herself to conceive with the sole aim of getting a slice of the perceived high-end life and the applicant’s scheme seems to be that she will use the innocent child to unlawfully achieve her objective,” Bishop Muriithi stated.

Bishop Muriithi also dismissed claims by Judy of being excited when she informed him of the pregnancy adding that the applicant did not disclose to him that she was pregnant. He went further to say that he learned of the applicant’s pregnancy long after he had severed their relationship.

“The first time I learned about the applicant’s pregnancy was long after the relationship had ended when I called her to say hello and in the process, she casually informed me that she was at St. Marys Hospital, Langata to deliver a child, which shocked me,” Bishop Muriithi told the court.

“Therefore, contents of paragraphs 5 and 6 of her affidavit are not true as I could not have been excited about a pregnancy that I did not know about and which was for reasons known to the applicant was all along hidden from me.” he added.
