Kikuyu gospel musician Betty Bayo pitied a single mother who was raising her sons alone and ultimately decided to buy her a parcel of land.
Betty Bayo, who is a mother of two, was a single mother for years before meeting her current husband.
She was previously married to controversial preacher Victor Kanyari.
Kanyari and Betty Bayo got married in 2012 but parted ways shortly after the November 2014 exposé by Mohammed Ali which revealed the preacher was performing fake miracles.
Betty Bayo remarried in December 2021.
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, Betty announced that she decided to bless one of the country’s single mothers with a piece of land as a way to help the poor – because her struggle resonated with hers when she was still a single mother following the breakup with Kanyari.
She gave the plot to a mother who has been ill and lives in a rented house whose story Karagu Muraya had posted on social media.
Betty Bayo added a quote saying that being a single mother was not easy as one has to pay rent, and bills on their own.
She added that she didn’t have much but the plot that she gifted the single mother was a dream come true, believing that they will get the money to build her a house.
“You all know being singo mother it’s not easy ,yaani singo mum you cater for houserent ,onion to tokens bills zote ni wewe😓.
I may not have a lot but with the little that I have touching mama Lawrence life with a plot of land was a dream come true …. with God ata hio nyumba itaisha tuu. Karangu Muraya wewe ni wa Nguvu,” Betty Bayo wrote.
