“It’s not a publicity stunt” Ben Pol speaks on his conversion to Islam

Ben Pol, whose real name is Bernard Michael Paul Mnyang’anga, took many by surprise when he denounced his Christian roots to convert to Islam last year.

The Bongo singer stressed that he had decided to convert to Islam and resolved to remain a Muslim until the end of his life here on earth.

Speaking on his new faith during a recent interview with Clouds FM, Ben Pol stressed that his conversion to Islam is not a publicity stunt.

He said whatever people saw is the truth whether it was a mistake on his part or not, insisting that people should interpret his move the way they deem so.

“Hakuna kiki iliyotengenezwa wala maigizo, yote mliyoyaona ni ya kweli, iwe ni makosa au sio makosa, walichokiona watu wabaki kukitafsiri vile walivyokitafsiri, kuonyesha upande wangu kwenye dini sio kitu ambacho najivunia,” said Ben Pol.

Speaking on his wedding to Anerlisa Muigai, Ben Pol said the nuptials was kept low key and with only few guest in attendance because of Covid-19 pandemic.

Ben Pol and Anerlisa got married in a church wedding held in Dar es Salaam last year at the height of Coronavirus pandemic.

“Nilifunga ndoa kipindi cha Corona, ndio maana ilikuwa kimya kimya ilikuwa ya watu wachache tu, hawakuzidi watu 10 kanisani.”
