Where has Mr. Nice been you may ask? The soulful crooner of glorious East-African melodies of yesteryear has been of the radar of nearly everyone’s lips. Not Bahati.

Bahati uploaded a photo of the two in studio on his Instagram page and aren’t we stoked. Knowing the prolific talent of Mr. Nice and how he once ruled the East African charts makes me salivate over the potential of this collaboration. For those of you who may be wondering who this Mr. nice character is, don’t fret your in good hands.

Lucas Mkenda aka Mr. Nice is a Tanzanian crooner of Takeu style music which he himself coined that stand for the initials of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. The singer had a string of hits that dominated the East African airwaves like Kidalipo and Fagilia in the mid 2000s. His music was easy to listen to but was the man easy to get along with? No, is the widely circulating answer to this question.

Every genius has his demons. And Mr. Nice was not a stranger to his own. He allegedly was an alcoholic and was very difficult to work with producers. Refigah of Grandpa records cited his uncooperative nature as the reason for his terminated contract in 2013. Since then the news about Mr. Nice has been negativity upon negativity. But enough with the history lesson.

Bahati in his Instagram post can clearly remember the power of Mr. Nice’s music.  All we can hope for is that the tide in Mr. Nice career has turned and we once again be entertained with new music.
