Born Okemwa Rajiv, 23 year old Raj started his music career in 2014 as an independent artiste while pursuing his Economics degree in the University of Nairobi. He created a music buzz for his music career by releasing videos off his first mixtape, Friday After Class, notably ‘Ndizi Flow’ and the soft touching Gaaki independently

To many, Raj was seen as a breath of fresh air since his style, Kisii Flow, was different and distinct in the way he fused his mother tongue Kisii, Swahili and English in his raps.

Raj went on to release his club hit Obe Baba in Feb 2015 which was on the extended version of the mixtape that had 4 new singles.

He released Obe Baba Remix independently with Norway based Kenyan female artiste Stella Mwangi in August. Raj was contracted by Transcend Media Group for their TV commercial dubbed ‘Kuwa True’ that went on national Tv on September 2015. Raj composed & wrote the theme song for the TV commercial.

Raj has enjoyed massive airplay and interviews on local media (both television & radio) notably on KTN, NTV, Citizen TV, Kiss TV, Capital FM, Kiss 100, HomeBoyz Radio, Citizen Radio while his latest release ‘Sawa Sawa’ getting regional airplay premiering on MTV Base and Trace TV. He has also appeared on several print media.

 

 

Raj

Raj has in the past perfomed alongside Khaligraph, Octopizzo, Stella Mwangi, King Kaka to name a few. He headlined the Jamboree Show July edition. He was also among the artistes who performed at the annual Tusker Mashujaa Pool Party held in Naivasha in 2015.

In 2016, Raj worked as a producer & artist for the SportPesa Festival. He also produced the Radio jingle for ELITE BET, A Kenyan betting company. He headlined at the annual Cake Festival in 2016. He also featured and produced ‘She Don’t Know’  A collaborative effort with a Kenyan female artiste.

He was also wildly acclaimed to be the first artist to release music every week for 4 months on a weekly project that was titled #BaeTuesday RAJ released a new 12-track EP on DEC 2016 titled B.A.E (Beautiful and Exquisite), to celebrate an African woman on the launch show that was dubbed Sahara Festival, BAE Concert, at Uhuru Gardens, a week after he graduated from the University of Nairobi with an Economics degree. Over 1,000 fans attended the event.

A video of Dancee a song off the EP, was released in FEB 2017 and has been viewed over 54,000 times. His official videos and viral videos have received over 880,000 cumulative views on YouTube and counting.
