Angélique Kidjo beats Burna Boy to win at the 62nd Grammy Awards

Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo known as Angélique Kidjo professionally won at the just concluded Grammy Awards 2020 held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Angélique Kidjo won in the category of ‘Best World Music Album’ with her album ‘Celia’.

The Beninese young girl from Parakou beat Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy with his best performing project so far of his career, ‘African Giant’ to win the coveted prize.

Angélique Kidjo won the Grammy beating other established international acts but she chose to dedicate her win to her fellow African artiste, Burna Boy for making the African music known globally just like she predicted African musicians will dominate four years ago.

“OMG! Four years ago on this stage, I was telling you that; “The new generation of artistes coming from Africa are going to take you by storm and the time has come! This is for Burna Boy”

Angélique Kidjo said on her Grammy Speech.

“I love you forever Angélique Kidjo and every single person that rooted for me, I don’t take any of it lightly! The world get ready cause we’re all coming!” Burna Boy said appreciating Angélique Kidjo.
