Machakos governor Alfred Mutua spoke on the money he made from Cobra Squad while responding to those calling on him to be investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on claims of plundering county coffers.
Former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama and his successor Boniface Kabaka have been calling on EACC on investigate Mutua whom they blame for being corrupt.
Speaking to a gathering of businessmen at Kenyatta stadium, Mutua stressed that he is ready to be arrested and queried over graft claims.
“If I am found guilty please arrest me and let them be careful what they wish for because they also have questions to answer,” said Mutua.
The Machakos governor further state that he could not plunder public resources because he made his millions before vying for a political seat.
Mutua revealed that he became a millionaire while he was still a movie producer. The Machakos governor produced the famed ‘Cobra Squad’ hit TV series which used to air on NTV.
Mutua claimed that he raked in a whopping Ksh 25 million from Cobra Squad and another Ksh 11 million from another film.
“I started my own company at the age of 19 years; where I formed a company then left the country. When I came back I started ‘Cobra Squad’ where the first series earned me Sh25 million and the next film earned me Sh11 million,” said Alfred Mutua.
