Akothee in July 2023 was touched by a high school student who jumped over her fence in Rongo to beg her for school fees.
The singer could not hide how she was touched by the way the boy who was wearing his school uniform risked his life to reach her and ask her for school fees.
“This boy risked his life and jumped into my compound just for school fee,” Akothee said and accompanied her message with tearful face emojis, explaining how the boy’s action made her emotional.
She was also heard talking to the high school student about his musical talent and encouraging him to keep pushing it.
On Saturday August 12, 2023, Akothee took to social media to announce that the high school student conned her.
The philanthropic singer said the boy told her that he had school fees arrears of Ksh22,000 when the balance was only Ksh10,000.
“It was on a Sunday morning Wuod Phoebe was visiting. I took a walk to the farm and saw a boy dressed in school uniform jumping inside my compound, 🤔it’s Sunday for Gods sake who walks with uniform,then I asked security to hold on allow me listen to him .
“So I asked him why he didn’t go through the main gate and opt to jump inside my compound, He said , Seing me is next to impossible and the guards at the gate won’t allow him in, he has tried several times 💪 so he just decided to risk and jump inn.
“Well ,I asked him, how about if you were mistaken for a thief and shot or injured by the dogs or security.
He answered, That’s why I put on my uniform on a Sunday , I know you care about education,I have hard people say you pay school fee for those without , therefore I decided to take the risk 🤔
“I then asked him,how did you know that I am around in the village? He said he heard me talking in a funeral around the village so he knew I was home. So I asked him to give me his fee structure and what the balance was, he said the balance was 22,000 And I said well, I will pay that no problem 🙏
“But he went ahead and said ,he wants to be a musician and he has already shot videos are on YouTube 🤔and he would like my help ,I and wuod Phoebe listened to the music and asked him not to compete with bongo, he can beat the LUO artist 10 Nill ,but first finish Education. Wuod Phoebe offered to produce an album for him once he clears his Form 4 .
“I then sent my security with him to school to clear the balance ,mmm the boy lied, the fee balance was 10k. My security brought back the balance the fee structure and the receipt.
“Yesterday I saw the boy at the gate again🤔 I was so hurt to learn that he lied to me & just disconnected. Now what do you think he has come back for? I can’t stand seing him ,I feel Used 🙏 what my children never do is to lie to me I can beat the hell out of you until you forget to breath ,yes I am a disciplinary, Should I open the gate ,Cain him first for lying then listen to him? Or should he be sent back to his mother ?
“I know when he grows up and make it in life ,he will use me as an example to those who locked gates on him 💪,” Akothee wrote.
