The world’s most influential digital stars are racing to East Africa, as MrBeast officially confirmed he is returning to Kenya just as the country prepares for the arrival of viral sensation IShowSpeed.
American philanthropist Jimmy Donaldson, known to his 300 million-plus subscribers as MrBeast, revealed his 2026 travel plans during an interview with fellow creator JasonTheWeen on Friday, January 9, 2025.
In a refreshing departure from typical billionaire bravado, the 27-year-old admitted he has no interest in luxury cars or mansions, choosing instead to “splurge” his wealth on humanitarian projects.
“I splurge on building studios. I splurge on giving away money. I splurge on spending a lot on videos,” he said, listing Kenya alongside Ghana, Dubai, and Mexico as his upcoming destinations.
“I probably won’t even go to my house this entire month.”
This will mark MrBeast’s third major foray into Kenya.
He first captured the nation’s heart in 2023 when he successfully built 52 wells and dams across the country.
He returned quietly in April 2025 to Narok County, where he transformed the lives of thousands of students by establishing a school feeding program, buying thousands of desks to replace dirt floors, and donating tractors and greenhouses to ensure long-term food security for local communities.
While MrBeast focuses on infrastructure, the streets of Nairobi are currently bracing for a very different kind of digital hurricane.
IShowSpeed (Darren Watkins Jr.) is currently in the middle of his “Speed Does Africa” tour—a 28-day, 20-country odyssey that has already seen him cause chaos in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

Kenyan fans are already tagging the country’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, hoping for a viral sprint showdown.
Omanyala has reportedly set his price at $50,000 for the race, adding to the high-stakes atmosphere surrounding the streamer’s maiden Kenyan visit.
In his Friday interview, MrBeast explained that his constant travel schedule makes personal comforts irrelevant.
“I barely have time to use houses or cars,” he noted, explaining that his primary joy comes from the scale of the impact he can make.
The simultaneous arrival of two of the world’s biggest creators has signaled a massive shift in Kenya’s global standing within the creator economy.
While Speed brings the spectacle, MrBeast brings the substance—and for the people of Kenya, both arrivals promise a January unlike any other.
