Pastor Victor Kanyari has broken his silence following days of online speculation and scrutiny surrounding the death of his ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo.

Through a heartfelt post on Facebook, Kanyari appeared deeply emotional but made it clear that he will not be drawn into online arguments.

Instead, he emphasised his focus on his children and their well-being amid the intense public debate.

“I am a father before I am anything else,” he wrote, grounding his message in responsibility rather than controversy.

Kanyari reflected on the flood of rumours circulating about his life and personal grief, noting that while some claims were accurate, many were false, and others were crafted purely to provoke reactions.

He said his message was not intended as a defence but as a call for clarity and peace.

He also highlighted the impact of the loss on his children, Sky and Danny, reminding the public that no headline or comment section can ever replace the mother they have lost.

“The mother of my children deserves peace. My children deserve respect. And I deserve space to mourn in dignity,” Kanyari wrote.

The post comes shortly after the late singer’s mother, Joyce Mbugua, raised questions about her daughter’s death, requesting a postmortem report and expressing concerns regarding the custody of the children.

Her demands sparked online debate, with content creators and commentators dissecting every detail.

Kanyari, however, remained focused on shielding his children from the frenzy, expressing gratitude to those who have supported him and resisted the viral narratives.

“People will always talk; that is the nature of the world. God’s opinion is greater than public opinion,” he added, urging respect for his family’s privacy and space to grieve.

By speaking out, Kanyari hopes to remind the public that while speculation may dominate social media, the priority remains the wellbeing of his children and the dignity of his family during this painful time.
