The “Fairytale” is officially over.
In a statement that has rocked the Kenyan business world, Simon Kabu, the CEO of Bonfire Adventures, has announced that his divorce from long-time partner Sarah Mtalii is legally complete.
After over 15 years of building a travel empire together, the man once celebrated as Kenya’s “ultimate romantic” is now a free agent.
Taking to social media on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Kabu revealed that he is looking to swap boardroom battles for sandy beaches.
However, the mogul admitted he isn’t quite ready for the solo life.
“Now that I’m officially and legally single… I now need to relax a bit, travel, and explore the world. But, not alone,” Kabu stated.
He has since launched “Travel With Simon Kabu,” a WhatsApp and Facebook-based club where he plans to lead groups of fans on global adventures.
While Simon appears to be looking toward a brighter horizon, his ex-wife Sarah Mtalii (who has notably dropped the “Kabu” surname) has painted a much darker picture of the separation.

In a moving interview shared just weeks before the final decree, Sarah compared the trauma of divorce to the loss of a loved one.
“You know divorce is as hard as death,” she told the Alex Mwakideu Podcast.
“Venye mtu akikufiwa, watu wanajaa kwa nyumba (When someone dies, people fill the house) to grieve with you. But when you are going through a divorce, there is no one.”
Despite the personal heartbreak, the two remain deeply intertwined through their 50/50 ownership of Bonfire Adventures.
Kabu has previously admitted that transitioning from “pillow talk” to “boardroom talk” was the hardest part of the split.
While Sarah warns that society often detaches from divorcing women, she has vowed to “glow again,” launching her own rival travel firm while continuing her duties at Bonfire.
As the dust settles on the legal battle, the court of public opinion remains divided: is Simon’s new travel club a genius marketing move, or a cry for companionship?
