The comedian turned politician is back—and he says he’s bringing the money with him.
Speaking on Friday, February 13, 2026, Jasper Muthomi, popularly known as MC Jessy, officially doubled down on his 2027 parliamentary ambitions, branding the current state of Kenya’s creative industry a “financial tragedy.”
During a candid media engagement, Jessy argued that despite the fame, many of Kenya’s top content creators remain “broke” because the country lacks a legal framework to ensure they are paid what they are worth.
Jessy, who previously vied as an independent in 2022, stated that his primary mission in the next Parliament will be the Creative Economy Bill.
The proposed legislation aims to provide structured monetisation for artists and digital influencers who currently struggle to navigate the “gray zone” of platform-based income.
“Many Kenyan content creators are currently ‘broke’ because the industry lacks a structured framework for monetisation,” Jessy remarked.
“I intend to fix this through policy, ensuring our artists have legal protection and better pay.”
The announcement marks a formal return to the ruling party’s inner circle. Just last week, Jessy was spotted at State House, joining a massive gathering of over 12,000 United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants.

While he remains coy about whether he will reclaim his South Imenti home turf or seek a new constituency in Nairobi, his commitment to the “Yellow” ticket is now absolute.
In a moment of classic “Jessy humor,” the entertainer reflected on his recent hiatus from the media spotlight.
He jokingly mentioned that his decision to quit radio was a calculated business move to ensure he hit personal milestones—like acquiring his Range Rover—before diving back into the expensive game of Kenyan politics.
“I had to focus on business and personal goals first,” he told reporters with a grin.
“Now that the foundation is set, I am ready for the legislative front.”
As the 2027 race begins to take shape, MC Jessy’s blend of celebrity star power and policy-driven rhetoric suggests that the “Creative Candidate” will be one to watch.
Whether the “broke” creators he champions will turn out in numbers to vote for him remains the KSh 900 million question.
