40 people dead after a tanker bursts into flames in Karai, Naivasha(Photos)

The total number of casualties from the explosion that happened yesterday in Karai, Naivasha has now risen to 40. Eye witness said that even the people who went to see what happened were caught in the inferno increasing the total number of casualties from 30 that was earlier on reported.

The number of people who died on Saturday 10th December 2016 when a track carrying inflammable substances bursted into flames near Karai on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway has officially increased to 40. deputy county commissioner Isaac Masinde said

Reportedly, there are two survivors who are recuperating at the Nairobi hospital where one of them is in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU). Among the burnt vehicles was a pick-up truck carrying administration police officers that was heading to Nairobi from an undisclosed place. Sadly, three of them are among the dead. Eight magazines of the guns the officers were carrying were recovered.

According to a preliminary police report released on Sunday morning, the truck (registration number UAK 519C) hit a bump before its driver lost control and rammed into a vehicle in front and other vehicles before it burst into flames.
