13-year-old Yassin Hussein Moyo got killed by police twenty minutes after curfew

A 13-year-old boy, Yassin Hussein Moyo was shot by the police who were enforcing curfew yesterday in Kiamaiko.

The boy, Yassin Hussein Moyo was playing at his house’s balcony when the police shot him in his stomach at around 7: 20 pm while playing.

Yassin was later taken to Mama Lucy hospital where he passed away while undergoing treatment.

“Yasin Moyo a 13-year-old boy of Muslim extraction was shot dead by police in Kiamaiko Mathare Constituency.” The Member of Parliament for Mathare Constituency, Anthony Tom Oluoch tweeted. “The IG must take personal responsibility. When H.E ordered for a dawn to dusk curfew he did not state that we had suspended the Constitution.”

Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Noordin Haji has directed the Inspector General of Police, Hillary N. Mutyambai to thoroughly but urgently investigate the reported incident of a 13-year-old boy at Kiamaiko, Mathare and forward file to his office for appropriate direction.

Kenyans have since taken to social media to seek justice for the 13-year-old Yassin Moyo after he passed last night.

“He died. Yassin died last night. A 13 yr old boy, murdered by police for playing at his balcony in KiaMaiko, Mathare.” one Naomi Van Stapele tweeted, tagging the National Police Service-Kenya “Kenyan police have been allowed to rampantly murder poor Kenyans for decades. This is not an incident”
