You got to feel nostalgic for the good old days, the early 2000s where Kenyan contemporary music was starting to gain momentum everywhere and Gidi Gidi Maji Maji were on top of every music chart not only in Kenya but regionally. Millennials cannot relate to this but trust me when I say those were some good ol days.
Nameless met up with Gidi Gidi real name Joseph Ogidi the other day and his meeting with the musical Kenyan legend struck some emotions that made him share some of the good times these two shared back in the day and how they(Gidi Gidi Maji Maji) inspired his music and how they had a healthy musical competition.
“ I met this great man @Gidiogidi in carni Jana… this guy and his partner Maji Maji were one of my inspirations to get into the music industry fully. They showed me how Kenyan music and culture could be so cool and energetic. They showed me that you could earn a good living through good music. Their ismarawa launch in carni like 20 years ago is still one of the best concerts I have ever gone to. Later in my career we became competition (healthy competition) and their song unbwogable removed my song Ninanoki from the top of the charts in Aug 2002.. Hahaha.. Blessup my brother..
