Veteran Taarab singer Khadija Kopa insists that her daughter Zuchu is one of the best songwriters she has ever come across, revealing that the ‘Sukari’ hitmaker writes her own songs.
Speaking during an interview with Mbengo TV, Zuchu’s mother noted that many female musicians usually get other people to write their songs but emphasized that her daughter has never asked for help in composing her songs.
“Wasanii wengi hawajui kuandika, wanasubiri wapewe nyimbo waweze kufanya lakini hawaandiki wenyewe,” alisema,” Khadija Kopa said.
Hakuna mtu ambaye anapitisha kalamu yake,” she added.
The veteran Taarab singer however pointed out that Zuchu receives musical advice from her colleagues at WCB.
She said that her daughter is at a high level of singing and wished her more success in her artistic career.
“Yuko vizuri. Nataka aende afike juu kama walikofika kina Diamond,” she said.
Khadija Kopa’s sentiments come shortly after Zuchu took to Twitter to state that she was very blessed not only with songwriting skills but also bragged about her good voice.
Zuchu noted that due to the many blessings she shouldn’t compete with female artistes in the East African region. Instead, she asked her fans to start measuring her up to male musicians.
She further criticized herself saying that her ability in composing songs is so great that she can decide to write for a male artiste without anyone noticing. She hinted that this month she will release two major songs.
Naachia ngoma mbili mwezi huu,” Zuchu bragged.
