Since her emergence on the Kenyan music scene in 2019, Xenia Manasseh has captivated audiences with her stunning vocals and her exceptional songwriting abilities.
This month, the R&B singer-songwriter is being honored for her talents as she is named Spotify’s EQUAL Africa ambassador for the month of February.
Manasseh’s debut studio EP dubbed, ‘Fallin’ Apart’, which was released in 2019, showcases her incredible vocal skills and her ability to craft emotionally charged tracks.
Her impressive resume of writing credits and features with other artistes includes collaborations with Teyana Taylor, Sauti Sol, Mr Eazi, Tay Iwar, and Burna Boy.
Spotify’s EQUAL Africa program was created to provide female artistes with the support and resources necessary to grow their craft and reach a global audience through multiple playlists.
In addition to this, the beneficiaries of the program receive off-platform guidance and tools to help advance their music careers to even greater heights.
Manasseh expresses her gratitude for being a part of the EQUAL program and being recognized for her contributions and voice, especially in a male-dominated industry.
She appreciates that the program is built on inclusivity and is honored to be a part of it.
“Being a part of the EQUAL programme is an honor. I’m honored to be recognized for my input and for my voice ESPECIALLY in a male-dominated industry. I’m honored to be a part of any programme that is built on inclusivity.
Navigating this industry would be more difficult without platforms like these that seek to highlight that great art is great art no matter the source,” Manasseh says of her inclusion in the programme and on the EQUAL Africa playlist.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, praised Xenia Manasseh as a rising star, not just in her home country, but globally.
The EQUAL program, according to Okumu, looks to support talent like Manasseh and provide women with the tools and platforms necessary to grow their audiences and advance their careers in the music industry.
“Xenia is a rising star – and not just in her home country. The EQUAL programme looks to support talent just like hers and give women the tools and the platforms to grow their audiences and advance their careers in the music industry,” says Spotify’s head of music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu.
Xenia is the next big thing in Kenya’s music industry, it’s only a matter of time before she becomes bigger than life itself.
