The veteran Kenyan Rhumba music maestro Wuod Fibi and his family is mourning the sudden death of his beloved son who he had so many plans for in the future.
The Godfather of the Kenyan Luo Rhumba and Ohangla genre who is credited to be the founder and/or the originator of the new wave of Luo music wave that has since taken over the country by a storm took to social media to disclose to his fans that he’s in mourning.
His son Billy passed away on their school’s closing day when he was undergoing an operation in Russia Hospital in Kisumu. He was quickly rushed to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit(ICU) but sadly, he didn’t make it.
Billy was diagnosed with a raptured appendix and died after an unsuccessful operation.
Wuod Fibi, popularly known for putting out music that relates to so many people out there through his music that touches on life issues and instances like love, dating, career, marriage, self-development, spiritual life, empowerment of the youth even releasing some feel-good vibes kind of music aimed at uplifting the society as we know it had plans to surprise his son with a present.
He had promised his son a brand new bike if he tops his class which he eventually did prior to his sudden death.
“I promised him a bicycle if he becomes number in class, he died on closing day and he had worked hard to top the class. My son Billy died while undergoing an operation in Russia Hospital Kisumu, he was rushed to ICU but he couldn’t make it. What a sad Christmas for us,” Wuod Fibi shared on Facebook.
“Billy will be laid to rest on the 4th of January 2022. Whoever is willing to support us clear his hospital bills and give him a befitting send-off can use the Mpesa Number 0721484862. God bless you all,” the statement concluded.
