Wizkid has decided to be the voice of reason in a beef that has pitted fellow Nigerian musicians against their counterparts in South Africa.
The beef was sparked by xenophobic violence in South Africa where Nigerians were among foreigners who were attacked by locals.
Nigerian musicians Burna Boy and YCee came out to accuse South African rapper AKA of inciting xenophobic violence in his tweets that were posted when South Africa lost 2-1 to Nigeria in Africa Cup of Nations quarter final match.

Moments after the beef on Twitter, reprisal attacks were reported in cities across Nigeria. Nigerians attacked businesses owned by South Africans including MTN and Shoprite stores.
Wizkid had earlier gave fellow Nigerian musicians a tongue-lashing in a series of tweets, he warned celebrities against making the situation worse with their tweets.
“I’ve seen so many insensitive and dumb stupid comments from You celebrities and I’m so disappointed! This is not a time to fight or point fingers!! Let love lead. Use your head! ❤️ u fucking dumb fucks! People are dying foreal! Watch what you say!” Wizkid ranted in one tweet.
Wizkid’s was supported by singer Banky W who said a solution to xenophobic attacks in South Africa could only be achieved through sustained diplomatic pressure.
“Now we are talking. Angry Nigerian youth lynching random innocent people, and looting businesses (most of which are owned by Nigerians AND employ Nigerians) will not solve the problems. Diplomatic pressure will. We need to channel all our anger in the right way,” Banky W tweeted.
