Wizkid opened up about his latest studio album ‘Made in Lagos’ in an exclusive interview with This Day Newspaper where he opened up about a lot of things, not just his body of work that he recently released.
The Nigerian award-winning Afrobeats living legend Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun thanked his global fanbase for enabling him to dominate the charts on a global scale thanks to his ‘Made in Lagos’ studio project.
“It a blessing you know and I’m just thankful that I have amazing fans that listen to my music.
I feel really blessed, like that the word- ‘blessed’ there’s no other way to describe it,” the ‘Ojuelegba’ hitmaker opened up on the success that Made in Lagos has achieved.
Opening up about the inspiration behind his latest album, Wizkid who has worked with Drake, Chris Brown, Future and other notable international artistes said the inspiration he needed and had was based on his family values going further to stress that indeed family truly and dearly means everything to him.
“Family is everything to me. That’s what influences me and keeps me grounded, especially my sons.
They are my purpose in life. It was important for me to put that into the music. I always want to share that love and good vibe because that’s simply what keeps me going,” Wizkid said.
Wizkid drops highly anticipated ‘Made In Lagos’ album
Wizkid doesn’t have any favorite song in the ‘Made in Lagos’ studio project, not a single one because he believes every single one of them has their own story to tell and each record is very personal to him.
He said it’s too difficult for him to pick one over the rest of the tracks.
Wizkid promised to release another studio album when he’s ready to give his fans more, especially when the time to do so is right since he always records a lot of music that he’s yet to put out.
The Afrobeats legend who helped put African music to the global market disclosed that there’s time for everything if you best make time for what’s important in life.
He beautifully and easily balances his roles as a fan-favorite interacting with fans, a musician, and most importantly, a family man, and makes sure everything works seamlessly and smoothly.
“I believe everything just falls in place when you’re being your true self. I am a big family man, I love music and I love making people happy.
I love to see my close ones happy around me so what I do is just try my best to simply stay grounded. I try not to get caught up.
I just try as much as possible to be a normal individual, because that’s who we all are at the end of the day.
That outlook is what helps to maintain balance in my life. My family comes first, always. Then my music and my fans come right after that,” Wizkid said.
Wizkid had a rather mature and out of the box reply when he was asked how he manages controversies attached to his name each and every other time which predominantly usually happens a lot since he’s an international superstar.
Wizkid replied;
“It’s very easy. Only a stupid man will go around trying to prove a point to the world and even at that, you’ll find that you cannot live off of people’s opinions.
I think once you understand yourself and your true essence, nothing will faze you, people’s opinions won’t faze you. I’m just more of a private person, and I handle situations in that manner.”
Wizkid is considered to be one of the greatest African musicians from this generation who helped put African music to the entire world and through his music, he helped unite Africa together.
Today, you will find it difficult, near impossible finding an African person, especially a youth who doesn’t know who Wizkid is.
He is the first and only African musician to ever work with the one and only Champagne Papi, DRAKE!
