Willy Paul to MCSK: Run away if you see Willy Paul

Willy Paul has issued a stern warning to the Music Copyright Society of Kenya(MCSK) on a viral clip he shared online.

The controversial musician is angry after he found out about the audit revealed theft of musicians’ royalties that even saw Khaligraph Jones reacting to it a few hours ago.

An audit done in organizations that collect royalties on behalf of musicians in Kenya has revealed why artistes have been receiving peanuts.

A statement released by KECOBO Chairman Mr. Mutuma Mathiu on September 8 highlighted the rot including diversion of royalties, poor corporate governance and separation of roles, non-existence of critical policy documents, and breach of existent policies in human resource and finance.

The CMOs, which are licensed by Kecobo are also suspected of conducting fraudulent transactions, having ghost members, and poor record-keeping.

“The non-compliance exposes the three societies to serious risk of misappropriation of funds, civil and criminal liability and loss of income from penalties and sanctions,” the statement read.

“The Kenya Copyright Board is looking at several options in implementation of the results of the audit report- including reference to Criminal Investigation Department, recovery of lost property and further administrative, policy and structural reforms in the CMO sector, once we receive the mandatory response from the CMOs, thus completing the audit report,” Mr. Mutuma Mathiu said.

Kecobo’s Executive Director Edward Sigei said the seven-day period given to the CMOs to respond started Tuesday.

The forensic audit done by audit firm Ronalds LLP, was ordered this year as per the provisions of the Copyright Act that created Kecobo.

“The Audit was Unnecessary, We have been saying this from The beginning, The Kenyan Entertainment industry keeps on Suffering, DJs, Artists, Event Organizers, Bouncers, Dancers Waiters, Club Owners, Restaurants etc” Khaligraph Jones said about the alleged theft of musicians’ royalties.

Today, Willy Paul had zero chills to give when he called out the MCSK body and issued a stern warning to them.

“We are using a lot of money in our projects and you’re stealing from us like artistes,” Willy Paul holding three knives said angrily, adding, “bastards, you will know us, personally you personally know who I am, if you see, make a turn,”

Khaligraph Jones seems to understand and backs what Willy Paul is saying commenting on Willy Paul’s video on Instagram using Octopizzo’s viral phrase; “1000 niggaz on the streets,”.

“Pozeee Kimeumana, 🤣🤣🤣” Khaligraph Jones told Willy Paul on the comment section, adding, of course throwing a little subliminal to Octopizzo who called the police for Breeder LW over a misunderstanding on social media, “waambie tukona 1000 niggas in the street tutawakuta kwa ofisi zao na polisi”

Apart from sharing the video, Willy Paul had some things to say in the caption area sending yet another warning to the MCSK.

The award-winning musician, Willy Paul said:

“It’s so sad that the government has failed to help the artists! Yaani tunaibiwa tu na hawa wazeee MCSKK and the rest!

We don’t work for you! Some of us came from nothing like me and here you are, feeding your balls and ovaries with our money!
