Willy Paul is poised to unveil his highly anticipated album, “Beyond Gifted,” on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Comprising 14 tracks, the album showcases a diverse range of musical styles, with many featuring collaborations with artists from various genres.
However, keen observers have noted a conspicuous absence of Kenyan artists in these collaborations, raising questions about Willy Paul’s choice of collaborators.
In response to the inquiries, Willy Paul took to his Instastory to provide clarity on the matter, citing concerns about the negative attitudes and selfishness prevalent among many Kenyan artists.
Addressing the issue head-on, Willy Paul asserted, “I have seen many questions about why there is not a single Kenyan artist on my album. Why have you forgotten that many Kenyan artists are only evil spirits that they can afford at a cheap price? The album is coming out early tomorrow.”
Despite this explanation, the album boasts an impressive lineup of collaborations with artists from neighboring Tanzania’s vibrant Bongo Fleva scene, including Marioo and Nandy, as well as Nigerian Afrobeats sensations such as Iyanya and Guchi.
In addition to his solo efforts, which include popular tracks like “Umeme,” “My Child My Love,” and “Isabella,” Willy Paul’s collaborative ventures demonstrate his commitment to exploring new musical territories and forging international connections within the industry.
