Willy Paul unforgivingly slammed underperforming artistes who he blamed for the sorry state of Kenyan music.
The controversial musician in a post on social media acknowledged that Kenyan music needs urgent fixing and he proposed solutions.
“We all know that our music industry needs fixing, too much talk with no action. If all goes well then they will forever thank me,” Willy Paul wrote in part.
Willy Paul further blamed event organizers for booking ‘people with no talent’. He lamented that musicians with talents are being overlooked in favour of mediocre artistes.
“Kenya is the only country where people with no talent get booked for big gigs, actually having no talent at all is a qualification in Kenya. Just what you need to succeed. Cartels are all over. We got very talented individuals but they’re not given the opportunity to show the world what they got. If we want to structure the industry we must do away with mediocre artists and support real talent!” He wrote.
Responding to Willy Paul’s post, Sarah Kabu of Bonfire Adventures laughed off the musician claim noting that people like her had no talent yet they had fans.
“Sasa hata kama hatuna talent tuna mafans😍 tufanyeje sasa tukiitwa gigs 🔥my hubby has two left legs na vile yeye hu entertain kwa dance floor 👏more than the real dancers 😮anyway we respect and support talent 😂,” she wrote.
Willy Paul’s sentiments come shortly after Otile Brown raised similar concerns about the Kenyan music industry shortly after he landed in the country.
