Why popular Luo artiste Odongo Swagg was arrested

Popular Luo artist Odongo Swagg was arrested by police on Saturday night.

Odongo Swagg who is a well-known artist and composer from Kisumu performs music that is classified as Ohangla, a popular Luo genre that is celebrated by most Luos everywhere.

He also serves as the Nyowila Ohangla band’s leader.

He has released four albums to date, the most recent of which, “Nyasembo” features the top song, “Chwade Gi Nyundo” a popular banger that is performing well commercially.

A Kenyan on Facebook named Leo Nyabaya shared a photo showing police officers outside the famous Egesa East Villa entertainment joint in Umoja.

“Odongo Swag Arrested at Egesa. Bwana Egesa came before the residential areas in Umoja. If anything to go the residential areas should close and leave Egesa.

Everyone can’t dance ajawa in town. #Magionge,” the Facebook user Leo Nyabaya shared.

According to reports, Odongo Swagg was apprehended for performing at night at Egesa East Villa in Umoja, Nairobi.

Several police officers led the Nyambita hitmaker and his band members out of the building, as shown in social media videos.

Nightclubs in residential areas have lately been outlawed by Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja.
