Mo Salah and Christmas

Wonder why Mo Salah wished his fans Merry Christmas? This is why

This is Mo Salah’s fourth Christmas message, which has infuriated his Muslim supporters.

The Christmas holiday is not a Muslim celebration, despite the fact that the Egyptian captain is a devoted Muslim, he has made it a thing to do, every 25th.

Muslims across the world have come out in droves to condemn Mo Salah again. For someone who’s been doing this now religiously, it only means one thing; he’s not bothered.

The Liverpool star, shared a photo of his wife, and two daughters, in front of a Christmas tree, all wearing matching costumes for this year’s celebrations.

So, why does Mo Salah celebrate Christmas against his Islamic laws?

1. It’s his right to do so

I think, he has a right to connect with his football fan base, who come from all beliefs, Christians, Muslims, Traditionalists, Buddhists, and even Atheists.

Wishing them a Merry Christmas does not mean he’s celebrating and even if he does, it’s his life, we should learn to respect that.

2. Non-Muslims also celebrate Islamic celebrations

Every year, governments give holidays to all citizens regardless of the religion they sign to, non-Muslims celebrate and make merry during Idd for example; and this has never been an issue.

Every time, a non-Muslim shares something that is Islamic, the Muslims say MashaAllah, Allahu Akbar.

It’s only fair that we understand that these are just holidays, one can choose how to spend their time, what to do and even wear.

3. He’s sending out a message

We should co-exist even with different religions and beliefs.

Yes, this is a message to the whole world, religion should not make us have differences that are non-issues.

Many countries are not religious states and the same way we interact in schools, work, hobbies, government etc. then posting a message of good wishes to others should not be an issue.

Why are Muslims concerned?

Mo Salah is a Muslim.

Islamic scholars have explained why Christmas should not be celebrated by Muslims.

They majorly say its Shirk, {Shirk in Islam is the sin of polytheism. Islam teaches that God does not share his divine attributes with any partner. Associating partners with God is disallowed according to the Islamic doctrine of Tawhid}.

Christians believe Jesus is the son of God, some he’s God.

Muslims believe he was a prophet of God.

The explanation further states, for Muslims, wishing Christians a merry Xmas is wrong, wearing the Xmas clothes theme is wrong, even celebrating and eating at Christian homes on Xmas Day is wrong; on the extreme explanation.
