Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai is asking Governor Sakaja and President William Ruto to look into all constructions going on in Nairobi. I must agree with Alai because, this year only; we’ve counted so many building collapses.
Robert Alai says, “Someone decided to build 300 units of bedsitters near Ola Service Station after Yaya Centre.”
“The quality of this development is wanting and the utilities to support it seems to be lacking.” Robert Alai continues.
Every building project is required by law to go through a permitting procedure before work can begin. Before beginning any construction on site, you must obtain the necessary approvals if you plan to develop.
You must obtain approval from the County Government’s Physical Planning Office, Public Health Office, National Environmental Management Authority, or NEMA, and National Construction Authority, or NCA, before beginning any construction in Kenya.
“Even the development board has been made not to be clear so that nobody is held to account.” rants Alai.
A development board is the sign that is placed at a construction site and describes the type of development that will be done there or is already being done. It may also describe the services being provided.
