Why Did President Uhuru Kenyatta nullify the appointment of Nation Media Group Editor-in-Chief Tom Mshindi as the chair of the Kenya Copyright Board

President Uhuru Kenyatta has nullified the appointment of Nation Media Group Editor-in-Chief Tom Mshindi as the chair of the Kenya Copyright Board.

Mshindi was appointed on October 1st 2015 as the board chairperson by Attorney General Githu Muigai.

In a fresh appointment, Mshindi has been replaced by Millicent Ogutu who will take over as the new chair of the Copyright board as of March 18th 2016.

“Uhuru Kenyatta Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoints MILLICENT OGUTU to be a member and Chairperson of the Kenya Copyright Board effective from the 18th March, 2016 and revoke the appointment of Tom Mshindi as Chairperson,” the gazette notice reads in part.

Kenyatta also appointed Henry Kosgey and Hussein Ali, former suspects in the crimes against humanity cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC), to chair the Tourism Fund and NGO Coordination Boards respectively.

Francis Kimemia, who was previously named in a corruption list unveiled by President Kenyatta, was also chosen to chair the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) Board.
