It’s 2022, here we go again, one important question that’s on everyone’s mind as the year comes to a close is who’s the best rapper in Kenya right now?
This debate as we know it might never end in these streets any time soon, trust me it’s been here for a minute, same as the cliché question of picking between Tupac or Biggie Smalls.
That’s how good Kenyan rappers are of late, they keep putting out great music every other time.
Kenyan media has at many times run polls, just to ignite debate and conversation on who the best rapper is in the 254 music industry.
Although the options they give are always obvious who the better act is and most of the times all are but great artists to many fans and followers. I feel it’s always an endeavor, to try and compare them(sic).
What qualities make a rapper good?
Personally, deliverance, flow, and clarity are just but a few of the many essential abilities a great rapper should have according to legendary artistes who’ve been there done that.
A great rapper should sound at ease performing over a multitude of sounds and production types.
In addition, this prowess should be good enough to stay influential for a decade or two at least which in a more ethereal sense is what truly distinguishes a great rapper from the rest.
The only way to know if a rapper is great is through time or consistency plus how longer they stay relevant and influential and the only way to measure this is against a catalog of work done that is not only memorable but endures the turmoils that come with changes in age, sound and preferences.
To be able to survive in the hip-hop game, rappers have to be able to constantly adapt and reinvent themselves.
With the volatile times and up vote of new rappers, it means more than just street credit but coming up with strategic ideas on how to stay on top of their game.
Believe me or not; being the best rapper, rhymer and lyricist of all time is nice, but if you can’t sell, it’s really not worth it.
Hip-hop is the most competitive musical genre in existence right now, it consists of more than simply rhymes and punchlines to be seen and declared the best rapper in the game.
Rappers who write outstanding songs stand out among the best rappers. It’s what distinguishes the rappers who are recognized for their music beyond borders from everyone else.
