Octopizzo is the most honest act right about now in the entertainment scene, and how i love his boldness. Friday night some awards under name Bingwa went down at Prestige and as it turned it, the level of mediocrity was off the roof ..unbelievable.
So Octopizzo won a Come Back Artist of the Year Award, he went ahead collected it and said that Wahu was the right winner and now Nameless is catching feelings..why?
This what Octo wrote that has got people talking days on..
“ Thanks for #BingwaAwards for the Award last Night,unfortunately I won’t take the award of “ComeBack Artist Of The Year” I never went anywhere,I’ve been here since my 1st hit single OnTop,I put in more work than any artist of my Genre ,unless you are awarding me for coming back from my Europe tour then it doesn’t make sense ,I never understand awards in this Country,I’d rather you acknowledge & Respect my work than award me & nominating me for a “comeback” Award which was such a joke,so if you don’t mind plizz give my award to Wahu who was in the same category.” He wrote before adding “Next time you nominate me please make sure you do a background check of my catalogue;The Quality of Hip hop music when it comes to Audio & video that I’ve brought to this industry since I stepped in. You can’t compare to any not even close,All in all I wish you the best and congrats to the “Winners” last night,& we still have along way to go as far as awards are concerned.”
His suggestion that the award be given to Wahu has rubbed Nameless the wrong way and he rushed to social media to defend his wife after the said assault to her good name.
“ Haiya…@wahukagwi ebu check this guy out. He says he is too big to receive this award!He even recommended that it be given to you!! Bro, let me give you advice….Appreciate and receive these awards that you win now, because there can come a time in your career that you don’t even get noticed or nominated. But I am sure you too big to receive advice , ama? Lakini seriously, you belittle the award then you recommend it to be given to Wahu?? Tuheshimiane… humble yourself before life humbles you. “
There are those who felt that Nameless knee-jerk reaction to Octopizzo’s statement was unwarranted as Octopizzo was not malicious in any way when mentioning Wahu.
June Tunu wrote “First, I don’t think @octopizzo said Wahu apewe the “award” in bad faith or out of disrespect or pride or whatever. Then let’s go back to basics. “Comeback” is simply a return to a former higher rank, popularity or position etc. @octopizzo has BEEN around, he’s really not disappeared on us. I don’t remember him taking any long breaks from the industry. @wahukagwi has been around but we all know she’s been taking little breaks since she’s a mommy and a businesswoman (Mad Respect!). Like the hits don’t drop as regularly as they used to, you know. But I think “Comeback Awards” shouldn’t be for artists who take let’s say 1 year or 6 month breaks. The awards (category) should be for people who’ve been missing in action for a long long time and are back with big hits. For example, if PiliPili dropped a hit today he’d make a great Comeback Award Nominee. So truth be told, @octopizzo & @wahukagwi aren’t the Bingwa “Comeback” Artists. Somebody somewhere would have fitted in the category better. #my2cents #iLoveKenyanMusic 🙂
Others however like Jayden Frank Njogu felt that Nameless was right in ‘checking’ Octopizzo “ Huyu jamaa @octopizzo ako na kiburi sana ….hajui fame yake ilikua kama mshuto …haiku last for long …..and thats why he was given that award #comeback” he wrote.
So what’s the fuss all about?
The only fuss i got is the level of jokes at the Bingwa Awards…so Papa Dennis wins overall best performer??Where and when did he perform, which show did he lit up to beat the rest of the contestants.It’s okay!
