Kenyan female rapper Wangechi has finally dropped her long-awaited music project following last year’s epic return to the hip-hop music scene. The project (EP) titled ‘Don’t Consume If Seal Is Broken’ is set for release today (Friday 2nd December), hours before sharing the stage with UK’s award-winning rapper Tinie Tempah and UK’s legendary DJ, TV/radio presenter Tim Westwood at the Jameson Connect concert to be held on 3rd December at Carnivore grounds.
‘Don’t Consume If Seal Is Broken’ provides a glimpse into Wangechi’s current state of mind in retrospect and consists of 10 songs including a bonus track. The new EP marks Wangechi’s second project release, which comes after her brief hiatus from the music scene following her tragic accident in September 2014.
The ten track EP will only be available on her website (www.wangechimusic.com) for free download as from 12 noon (EAT) and features collaborations from Kenya’s Neosoul’s finest Didge, rapper Taio Tripper from super group Camp Mulla and the exceptional, up and coming rap group 125 just to name but a few. Key producers’ behind the production are ’ Mugo ‘Waithaka’ Ng’ang’a, Festus and her long time producer and collaborator Kevin ‘Provoke’ Omondi while veteran producer Eric Musyoka’s Decimal records lend a hand in the mastering of the project.
The EP’s bonus song ‘Here is to us’ music video is set for release next week and the audio will be available for free download the same week. The song rallies behind Tusker Lager’s new campaign; ‘Here Is To Us’ underlines the brand’s new position in celebrating the extraordinary that happens when ordinary people come together.
The release of the EP comes hot on the heels of her recent six-month Blaze ‘BYOB’ young mentorship summit tour across the country, following the telecommunication giant Safaricom – newly launched youth product dubbed ‘Blaze’.
