Wahu Kagwi recalled how she was humiliated shortly after she bought her first house.
In that case, Wahu had bought a house that had made her very happy at the time when she was starting her singing career at the age of 20.
In her story, Wahu revealed that the one-room house was owned by a Christian organization and a few days after signing the papers to buy the house, she received a call from the organization that she could no longer own it.
“One day, after paying and signing the contract to own the house, I received a call and was informed that I could not enter the house.”
Despite the fact that the person did not explain to Wahu the reason for the organization’s change of mind, the mother of three children felt that the reason she was prohibited from owning the house was that she was a young artiste.
According to him, the organization felt that Wahu was young and not having a boyfriend would mean that she would bring ‘Wababas’ or get drunk every day. So the agency felt it was right not to be associated with a secular artiste.
15 years later, the organization approached Wahu to be their brand ambassador, a proposal that the musician boycotted even though she had forgiven them for the previous incident.
“15 years later, the same institution sought me to be their ambassador because according to them now I was seen as a ‘good role model’ to cooperate with them. What would you do if you were in that situation?” Wahu wrote.
