Celebrated Kikuyu gospel singer Samuel Waithera alias Sammy K was paid to perform but instead, he switched off his phone and went missing after receiving money from a client.
Nairobi lawyer Wahome Thuku was contacted by a disgruntled client who complained that Sammy K had swindled him after paying him a performance fee of Ksh20,000 – which was just a down payment.
The vernacular singer was paid the money as a deposit for him to perform at an event which was to take place last week.
However, after receiving the money from the client, Sammy K failed to attend the event without sending any explanation. He instead switched off his phone making it almost impossible to get to him.
Sammy K later switched on the phone and when asked about the money, he told those who had hired him to stop bothering and give him time to refund the money since he didn’t have it at the moment.
The client reached out to lawyer city Wahome Thuku seeking legal assistance after reporting the matter to police.
Thuku contacted Sammy K who confirmed that indeed he failed to show up to the event after receiving the deposit but requested for more days to get the money to refund the client.
