Former police boss and Kenya Airports Authority chief David Kimaiyo has finally spoken on why he lost his job.
Kimaiyo was sacked job by President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly refusing to be part of rampant corruption at the Airports Authority.
He also said that it was only corrupt individuals who survived in Uhuru’s government.
Former police boss David Kimaiyo finally broke the silence this week after being sacked from his position as Kenya Airports Authority chief on Friday, June 24.
According to the Star, Kimaiyo was fired because he refused to be part of the corruption at Kenya Airports.
“Corruption in Jubilee has gone too far. I stood firm against it even while in the Police Service. I spoke to traffic officers to stop asking for bribes all the time. It is these same principles that internal forces at the Authroity did not agree with,”said Kimaiyo in a video as quoted in the newspaper.
Kimaiyo said he lost his job because he refused to take bribes and it was only corrupt individuals who survived working in the “current regime”.
President Uhuru Kenyatta sacked Kimaiyo in June 2016 and replaced him with former military boss Julius Karangi.
Kimaiyo was in his second year of the appointment after being called to duty in December 2014.
At the time of the sacking, there was no known reason as to why the move was made but there was speculation that it had to do with dubious acquirement of airport assets, fraud and illegal tendering.
Kimaiyo took up the job when the above-mentioned irregularities were rife at the management level of the Authority.
